This is a tribute page dedicated to the wonderfull classic Jetliners that visited Miami International airport during the 70s & 80s.
HK-2560 is a, 1966 built, Boeing 727-26 which flew for Aerotal Colombia during the early 80's. She was damaged beyound repair during a landing mishap at Santa Marta, Colombia in the last week of November 1982.
Cayman Airways Douglas DC-9-15 being parked at a broiling hot Miami ramp. She is still (2024) earning her keep with Ameristar and stationed at Detroit - Willow Run Airport.
Hispaniola Airways HI-401 is a Boeing 720 who started her career with United. She was scrapped at Puerto Plata, Dominican Rep. in the late 80's.
Lanica Nicaragua Boeing 727-76 YN-BWX was delivered new to Trans Australia Airways. She was spotted at Maimi in April 1980, wearing her original registration VH-TJB. The Boeing is listed broken-up at Opa-Locka, Florida during 1995.
ALM Boeing 727-173C PJ-BOA is a former World Airways ship. After service with ALM, she flew for Aviateca and UPS. She is listed scrapped at Roswell, New Mexico by 2008.
Trans Brasil Boeing 727-27C PT-TYQ is seen here basking in the morning sun at Miami. Her last operator was Fedex and she was dismantled at Greenwood, Missisippi during 2005.
Belize Airways Ltd. Boeing 720 N64696 'Ambergirse Caye' glinting in the South Florida sun. Mind the Boeing 707-720 titels on her engine cowlings. Last owner was the George T. Baker School at Miami. She was cut-up during 2004.
The bright colors of Belize Airways Ltd. Boeing 720 VP-HCO caught by the camera on a busy sun-drenched day at Miami. She was scrapped at Miami in January 1983.
BWIA Boeing 707-138B 9Y-TDB sitting pretty under the intense Florida sunshine. Last operator was the Moroccan Air Force and the 707 is still stored at Kenitra Air Base, Rabat, Marocco.
INAIR Panama Convair 880 HP-821 looking a little weary-worn. The freighter skidded off runway at Panama-City and was damaged beyound repair and broken-up in the following years.
Seen 'over-the-numbers' for landing on one of Miami's runways is Tampa Colombia Boeing 707-320F HK-3030X. Last operator was Skymasters of Brasil. She is listed stored at Lima Airport, Peru.
Florida West Boeing 707-320C N720FW taxies into her base at Miami. Her last operator was Air Atlantic Cargo from Nigeria. The Boeing has been dismantled for spares at Kinshasa during May 2001.
Aerotal Colombia Boeing 707-320C N15710 started her career with TWA as a CargoJet freighter back in the late 60's. The final operator was the USAF who used her as a AWACS training ship. She was slowly dismantled and finally scrapped at Tinker AFB by 2002.
HC-BDP is a Boeing 720 and seen here parked on the ramp of Miami International Airport, on a warm Florida summer day in the late 70's. Broker IAL sold her to the USAF for KC-135 parts programme.
Facucett Peru Boeing 707-321B N1181Z is seen parked on the ramp at Miami in the summer of 1982. She was sold to the USAF for the KC-135 parts programme by her last owner ATASCO Leasing. Most likely, she has been parted-out at Davis-Monthan.
Viasa Venezuela Boeing 747-200 N749WA taxies to its gate at Miami in July 1981. Her last operator was Evergreen who used her as a Tanker. Presently she is stored at Marana, Arizona.
Lanica Boeing 727 YN-BSQ has just arrived from Managua, Nicaragua. Last operator was Emery Worldwide. She was scrapped at Goodyear, Arizona, in 2006.
Boeing 727 YV-80C is one of a number of 727's operated by Avensa. Last operator was TAESA from Mexico. The Boeing was parted-out at Mexico City during the turn of the century.
Most commercially operated DC-8's in the late 80's owed their livelihood to the cargo business. Aerotours veteran DC-8-33 freighter N717UA being photographed between flights at Miami in May 1980. The Douglas was scrapped at Miami during August 1984.

ALM DC-8-53 N121GA started her career with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as PH-DCO. Last operator was ARCA Colombia. She was parted-out for spares and scrapped at Miami during 1999.

A classic early Jet Liner is this Aerolineas Peruanas Convair 990 Fan-Jet. Eddy photographed her at Miami during the early 70's.
Another glimpse into the wild days of the 70’s. AECA Cargo Douglas DC-8-50F HC-BQH is seen parked somewhere at Miami Airport. Last operator was MK Air Cargo. She crashed on approach Kano, Nigeria, on February 15, 1992.
Servivensa Boeing 727 YV-763C just taxiing past. She is listed broken-up at Caracas in the late 90's.
Aeronauts Intl. Boeing 707-321 N726PA seen here on a sweltering Miami tarmac during the early 70's. Last operator was Air Manilla. She was scrapped in the mid 80's at Manilla Airport.
SAM Colombia Boeing 707-320C N760FW, pushing back for another cargo flight to Colombia. She is listed stored at AMARG after being modified to an E-8C J-STARS. Her last flight for the military was in September 2022.
AECA Cargo Douglas DC-8-55F HC-BKN outside Air Florida facilities, at Miami, Florida. The freighter crashed into buildings after take-off from Quito, Mariscal Airport on September 18, 1984.
"Theme from A Summer Place" by Percy Faith was the number one song of the 1960. That same year this Convair 880 rolled from the San Diego production line. N817AJ was scrapped in the mid 80's at Miami Airport.
